Broccoli Umpqua is a compact heavy bearing variety with a high quality main head and ample side shoots for multiple weeks. Leaves can eaten when young.  Keep moist during the growing season.

Broccoli is a fast growing annual that requires a full sun position with very fertile soil rich in organic matter. Growing a large broccoli plant will result in the biggest possible head harvest.

Plants will begin to form up a Broccoli head after 60-90 days. Once the main head has been harvested a number of side shoots will continue to grow providing the plant is healthy.

 

How To Sow

Sow seeds into pots/punnets using a good quality seed raising mixture. Transplant seedlings to the garden when they are 5cm high. and sow 50cm apart in rows 60cm wide and mulch thickly around the plant.

All year, except during the hottest parts of summer

Where to Sow

Full Sun or part well drained soil.
