Red Cabbage produces medium sized heads adding attractive red/purple colour to salads. Eaten fresh or cooked it is high in vitamins A, B and C. Popular vegetable, high in calcium and iron.  Cabbage is a fast growing annual that requires a full sun position with very fertile soil rich in organic matter. Growing a large cabbage plant will result in the biggest possible head harvest.

Plants will begin to form up a Cabbage head after 70-90 days. 

 

How To Sow

Sow seeds into pots/punnets using a good quality seed raising mixture 5mm deep. Transplant seedlings to the garden when they are 5cm high 40cm apart and mulch thickly around the plant.
