Echinacea has attractive large purple daisy flowers produced in late summer.  Echinacea is frost tolerant and a hardy perennial that grows to 90cm, that likes well drained average soil in a sunny position.  Echinacea has many medicinal properties.  

How To Sow

Sow in seed raising trays and transplant at 3cm high to garden. Space plants 20cm apart.

Where to Sow

They thrive in sandy, loam and chalk soils. They prefer to be in full sun but will tolerate partial shade well. The best flower colour occurs in a sunny position. When the base clump of foliage starts to get congested it's best to divide the plants into three and replant.
