Kohlrabi Seeds - Purple Vienna
Kohlrabi Seeds - Purple Vienna
(Brassica oleracea Gongylodes) - Organically Grown - Uncertified
Kohlrabi is a fast growing annual with delicious purple bulbing vegetable, eat bulb and stem. Eat when young to before they go woody - up to 6cm across. Steam or boil similar to beetroot. Leaves can also be used similar to kale and best eaten when young.
Kohlrabi is a fast growing annual that requires a full sun position with very fertile soil rich in organic matter. We highly recommend covering all your Brassica's with Vege Netting when they are first transplanted to exclude the white cabbage moth. If the moth does lay it's eggs the best natural solution is the use of Dipel spray. Side dressings of fertiliser can be used if growth is slow.
Leaves can be eaten when young in salads or garnish. Mature leaves have a sweet flavour and can be eaten fresh in salads, steamed or tossed in stir frys, various baked dishes. The Kohlrabi Bulb can be harvested from around 3cm+ in size. Use them fresh in salads, pickle or add to baked dishes.
