Carentan Leek is a european heirloom variety, with thick short stems up to 5cm wide with dark green leaves.  A fast and prolific grower, mature in roughly 100 days.  Its mild flavour makes it perfect for cooking with.

Depending on the temperatures in your region sowing from March-April is ideal. Choose a fertile position in your garden rich in organic matter. Transplant to the garden at 5-10cm tall and mulch to suppress weeds.

Store seeds at 5°C

 

How To Sow

Sow 3-4 seeds in pots and cover with 4mm of soil. Transplant seedlings at 6cm tall to garden position and space 20cm apart.
