(Lactuca sativa)
This certified organic mix of Brown Romaine, Red Cos, and Summer Queen is perfect for warmer conditions. It outperforms other lettuce varieties and only requires some afternoon shade and a moist, fertile location to thrive. Growing lettuce is easy and quick - simply sow seeds into pots or punnets with 3mm of soil, keep them moist until they sprout, and then transplant them into a sunny or partially shaded area once they reach 5cm in height. Make sure the spot is relatively fertile to ensure a constant harvest for a long period. Note: Lettuce can be grown in warmer weather, like early or late summer, but it's best to choose a spot in the garden that gets shade after 2pm for optimal results. Keep in mind that lettuce grown in these conditions won't grow as large or for as long as a winter crop. Be aware of slugs and snails, and consider using Protect Us Snail pellets to keep them at bay.
